In only three days, the Great American Solar Eclipse will occur. It's going to be a busy weekend as many begin to drive to their viewing destination in preparation for Monday's eclipse. Using our SkyWise high-resolution forecast model, take a look at the expected cloud cover.

The solar eclipse will begin to make its way across the country starting in Oregon and leaving in South Carolina. WDT’s SkyWise platform provides future forecasts of total cloud cover, as shown above, at the peak of the eclipse. As of this morning, it appears that those in Oregon and Idaho should have clear skies as they watch the moon pass in front of the sun. Wyoming, Missouri, and Tennessee will have some clear spots, however, cloud cover is forecasted across most of those states. If you are heading to Nebraska, the forecast isn't looking so good for an unobstructed view. 

Continue to keep an eye on the weather as Monday approaches. If you are heading out to view the eclipse, traffic should be heavily congested. Fill your gas tank, leave early, wear approved solar filters, bring bug spray and sunscreen, and be prepared for your mobile phone to have signal issues with many trying to text about this event.
