Severe thunderstorms are likely today across portions of Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota ahead of a shortwave trough moving across the Northern Plains. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main concerns, however, tornadoes will also be possible. Later into the evening, the low level jet will intensify and help promote the development of a squall line capable of large hail and damaging winds. The tornado risk will decrease some, but a few embedded tornadoes will also be possible.
