Thunderstorms are likely today for a large portion of the Plains ahead of an upper level trough moving across the Plains. The risk for thunderstorms extends from Northern Texas into Southern Minnesota with a moderate risk of severe weather for portions of Iowa and Minnesota.

Additional thunderstorms will develop as the atmosphere becomes more unstable later today. As thunderstorms develop, large hail greater than two inches, damaging winds, and tornadoes will be possible.
