Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible today for portions of the Plains and Midwest; some thunderstorms may be severe. In the Northern Rockies, heavy rain and snow will be possible. Up to 3 inches of rain and 6 inches of snow (in the highest elevations) are possible.

An area of low pressure over the Desert Southwest will continue to advance into the Plains. Showers and thunderstorms will develop from the Intermountain West to the Plains and Upper Midwest. Later in the day, thunderstorms will develop across the Great Lakes and into the Southern Plains. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main concerns. Heavy rain will also be possible for portions of the Northern Rockies and Great Basin where up to 3" of rain will be possible. In the higher elevations, up to 6 inches of snow will be possible.
