Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible today for portions of the Ohio River Valley, Mid Atlantic, and Northeast. In the west, showers and thunderstorms will be possible for portions of California.

An area of low pressure will lift into Eastern Canada on Friday, bringing a cold front into the Mid Atlantic and the Northeast. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible, but no severe weather is expected. Any thunderstorms that develop will have the potential for lightning, small hail, and moderate to heavy rain. A few showers and thunderstorms will be possible across portions of California as daytime heating and moisture increases. Elsewhere, dry conditions will continue.
