November 20th marked the 14th annual GIS Day, a day to celebrate the rapid evolution of geospatial technologies and their increasingly prevalent roles in our modern everyday lives. Some good examples of GIS are Google Earth, Apple Maps and WDT's very own iMap products.
Each year the OU Earth Observation and Modeling Facility recognizes GIS Day with an expo featuring booth-style demonstrations, employment opportunity information and lectures. This year, WDT CEO Mike Eilts was honored to serve as keynote speaker during this event.
The objective of the annual GIS Day Expo at OU is to celebrate and showcase a broad spectrum of research, education, and outreach activities related to geospatial science, technology and applications. The effort will help attract and retain both undergraduate and graduate students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and prepare them for future employment in the geospatial sector.
Mark your calendars! Here are future GIS Day celebration dates.
