Helping Business Weather the Storm

National Weather Summary for Friday, October 23, 2015

by WeatherOps, on Oct 23, 2015 4:53:22 AM

There is an elevated threat for excessive rainfall and flooding on Friday across the Southern Plains and Texas. There is a marginal risk for strong to severe thunderstorms across Texas.

Deep moisture will continue to spread northward into the south central US as an upper level trough moves into the Plains, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms to the region. Additional lift provided by an advancing cold front could help enhance rainfall totals as well. Widespread rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches will be likely with locally higher amounts in excess of 5 inches possible.

There is a marginal threat for severe thunderstorms across Texas. Rich low level moisture will be present with a marginally favorable wind profile, which may support some storm organization. Any storms that become severe will have a potential for large hail and damaging winds.
