There is a marginal risk for strong to severe thunderstorms on Friday across Texas. Excessive rainfall and flooding is possible from the Southern Plains through South Texas.
The threat for excessive rainfall in the Southern Plains will shift eastward as an upper level low interacts with Gulf moisture. Additionally, a surface low will track across the Plains with an attendant cold front across the Southern Plains, providing additional lift for widespread showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches will be possible with locally higher amounts in excess of 4 inches.
Rich low level moisture and a favorable wind profile will allow for a marginal risk of severe weather across Central and Southern Texas. With any thunderstorms that develop, hail and damaging winds will be the primary hazards.
