There is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms and a threat for excessive rainfall on Tuesday across the Desert Southwest.
An upper level low will dig southward into the Southwest on Tuesday, allowing for showers and thunderstorms to form in the afternoon across portions of New Mexico, far western Texas, and southeast Arizona. A few thunderstorms will have the potential to become severe with gusty winds and hail the main threats. Excessive rainfall will also be possible, especially during the late afternoon and evening. Rainfall amounts of .25-.75 inch can be expected with locally higher amounts in excess of an inch possible.
