Excessive rainfall is possible on Tuesday across portions of the Southwest and High Plains. Strong to marginally severe thunderstorms are possible for the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest.

Moisture associated with the remnants of Tropical Depression 16E will continue to spread northward today across the Southwest and into the central High Plains as a surface low develops in the lee of the Rockies. Thunderstorms will spread from south to north throughout the day with widespread rainfall amounts of 0.50 to 1.50 inches, with isolated amounts in excess of 2 inches. This may lead to an increased risk of flooding or flash flooding across the region.

An upper level disturbance and a strengthening low level jet will generate thunderstorms across portions of the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest very late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible with large hail and gusty winds the main threats.
