There is a moderate chance for heavy rainfall across the Southwest US today.
Tropical Depression 16-E is currently over the Gulf of California is forecast to track northward over the next couple of days. This system will bring a surge of tropical moisture with widespread showers and thunderstorms likely across portions of southeastern Arizona and southwestern New Mexico. Moderate to heavy rain should begin Monday afternoon and last through the evening. Widespread rainfall amounts of 2-3 inches can be expected with locally higher amounts in excess of 5 inches will be possible.
Otherwise, a stalled boundary will extend along the east coast, which will be the focus for scattered showers and thunderstorms. No severe weather is expected.
