Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible on Thursday for the Eastern Plains and Great Lakes region. Excessive rainfall is possible for portions of Florida.
A strong shortwave trough and a surface low will move into the Plains and Northern Great Lakes, bringing a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms from northeastern Minnesota into Nebraska. Morning convection could inhibit storm development, but storms are expected to develop from the late afternoon into the early evening. The main hazard with any storms that develop will be damaging winds.
The remnants of Grace should continue to produce widespread shower and thunderstorm activity throughout Florida. Some flooding is possible due to rain from Wednesday, but 1-2 inches of rain will be possible in most areas with amounts in excess of 4 inches along the coast.
