Severe thunderstorms are possible Wednesday from the Ozarks to the Middle Mississippi River Valley. Excessive rainfall is possible for the Middle Mississippi River Valley.
Ozark Region into the Middle Mississippi River Valley: A shortwave trough will dig
through the Missouri Ozarks this afternoon with increasing showers and thunderstorms
expected across the region. Favorable conditions, including 30-40 knots of bulk wind shear
and moderate instability from 70’s dewpoints, will support organized severe thunderstorms
with a risk for large hail and damaging winds and a low tornado threat.
Middle Mississippi River Valley: An excessive rainfall risk is anticipated across the Middle
Mississippi River Valley where showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing
rainfall totals of 1-2 inches and locally higher amounts within training thunderstorm
activity.
