Strong thunderstorms are possible Wednesday from the Ozarks into the Middle Mississippi Valley. Excessive rainfall is possible for the Middle Mississippi Valley.
Ozark Region into the Middle Mississippi River Valley: A shortwave trough progressing into the Missouri Ozarks on Wednesday is forecast to overspread a region of deep moisture in the form of low to mid 70’s dewpoints. Daytime heating and 40-50 knots of bulk wind shear will be favorable for at least a few severe thunderstorms with a risk for large hail, damaging wind gusts, and perhaps an isolated tornado or two.
Middle Mississippi River Valley: Another small risk for excessive rainfall will develop across the Middle Mississippi River Valley on Wednesday in association with expected showers and thunderstorms. Thunderstorm activity will likely be maintained into the overnight hours with locally excessive amounts of 1-2 inches possible.
