Helping Business Weather the Storm

Hazardous Weather Outlook for Tuesday, August 4, 2015

by WeatherOps, on Aug 3, 2015 10:08:24 AM

Strong thunderstorms are possible on Tuesday from the Central and Southern Plains through the Tennessee Valley, as well as from the Mid Atlantic through the Upper Northeast.

Central and Southern Plains through Tennessee Valley: Frontal boundary still stalled in the region as well as a couple of shortwave disturbances in the upper levels could produce another round of strong thunderstorms on Tuesday for the Central US. A similar situation may be in place as a cap helps to inhibit afternoon development, coupled with ongoing activity from Monday and cloud cover helping to inhibit some development. Nevertheless, sufficient heating should occur to initiate new storms and intensify any already existing storms, allowing for isolated regions to see strong to isolated severe conditions.

Mid-Atlantic through Upper Northeast: Cold front remaining in the region will be pushing off the coast on Tuesday. Ongoing convection and cloud cover in association with the boundary will also be a hindrance to possible development, however a few storms into the late morning and early afternoon timeframe could potentially become stronger aided by daytime heating, producing gusty winds or perhaps some smaller hail. The front should push the activity offshore by the evening timeframe.
