Severe thunderstorms are likely Wednesday across the Northern Plains and into the Midwest.
A belt of westerly jet stream winds should be situated across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest region on Thursday atop a region of moderate to extreme instability from portions of South Dakota and Nebraska, eastward, into Iowa and Missouri. Thunderstorm development should be aided by a passing upper-level disturbance and a strong low-level jet. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will quickly become severe with a risk for very large hail, isolated damaging wind gusts, and an attendant threat.
