Weather industry leader Weather Decision Technologies, Inc. (WDT) has announced the release of SkyWise, a Weather as a Service® platform which provides access to an enormous amount of weather data and analytics never before available outside the company.
SkyWise empowers web, mobile, GIS, Software as a Service (SaaS), and Common Operating Picture developers with the ability to tap into a large catalog of weather analytics and information to integrate within their products. Through a combination of cloud-based APIs, SDKs, ESRI Web Services, and gridded and point data sets, developers can incorporate past, present, and future weather information and analytics into their projects. This includes global weather intelligence including radar, satellite, current conditions, forecast models, lightning, hail, tornadoes, ocean data and more.
“For the past 15 years, WDT has developed the capability to acquire and aggregate a large suite of data from providers all over the world in real-time. Additionally, we have established and licensed a large suite of proprietary weather algorithms, forecast models, and analytics engines that yield high-end weather content. This combination has allowed us to amass an unrivaled amount of high quality global weather information,” says Renny Vandewege, SkyWise Product Manager at WDT. “By making this data available to developers via SkyWise, we can reach and empower many, many more individuals and businesses.”
At this time, the majority of SkyWise data are available to developers free of charge during the building stage of their projects. A complete list of all available SkyWise datasets can be reviewed in detail here. WDT’s integration experts are available to assist you with determining which content you need for your project.
