WDT Delivers Radar Wind and Thermodynamic Profiler System to Bahrain International Airport
Oklahoma weather company helps to guarantee airline passenger safety
Weather industry leader Weather Decision Technologies (WDT), working with Radiometics and Degreane, has delivered an integrated upper air profiling, analysis and display system to the Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority, Meteorological Directorate at the Bahrain International Airport (BAH).
The system includes and integrates the newly installed Radiometrics Microwave Profiling Radiometer (MPR) and Degreane Radar Wind Profiler (RWP) to provide continuous vertical profiles of winds, temperature, and moisture variables in the lower troposphere, which are useful for monitoring stability changes, nowcasting storm formation, and detecting operationally critical wind shear conditions. Additionally the system detects and alerts for wind shear that exceed user-defined thresholds and provides automated alerts to the users when these conditions are detected.
“It has been a great experience getting this system delivered and working with the BAH staff who will utilize this system to help ensure the safety of aircraft operations, especially arrivals and departures,” says Bill Conway, VP International Solutions.
WDT’s international aviation focus is the integration of wind profilers and radar systems as well as data incorporation and display services.
