Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday for the Great Lakes and Ohio River Valley, as well as the Central and Southern Plains.
A deepening area of low pressure and associated cold front will move slowly eastward across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley today. Thunderstorms are expected to develop and increase in intensity by this afternoon and evening. Conditions will be favorable for strong to severe thunderstorms. Hail and damaging winds will be the primary concerns, but some of the more organized thunderstorms may be capable of producing a tornado.
A stationary area of low pressure over the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles will bring a threat of strong to severe thunderstorms to portions of the Central and Southern Plains this afternoon and evening. Hail, damaging winds, and isolated tornadoes will be possible with these storms. Areas that received heavy rain over the past week may see an increased flooding threat.
