Locally heavy rainfall is likely Wednesday across the South Central Plains.
A potent upper-level trough will move into the southern high plains on Wednesday, providing the lift necessary for the development of showers and thunderstorms across much of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Very deep moisture in place over the region will allow for thunderstorms to produce very heavy rains. Widespread rainfall totals of two to four inches, with isolated amounts of up to eight inches will be possible in some locations. While a few isolated strong to severe thunderstorms may be possible, widespread severe weather is not anticipated at this time.
