Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Saturday for the Central and Southern Plains. Severe thunderstorms are possible across Southwestern Kansas and Western Oklahoma.

Central/Southern Plains:Saturday continues to show promise for a more significant severe weather event across the Central and Southern Plains. A shortwave trough over the Western CONUS will lift into Kansas through the afternoon hours with a strengthening low pressure center at the surface expected to promote strong vertical wind shear from Southwest Kansas into Northwest Texas. While severe thunderstorms will be possible from Nebraska southward into the Del Rio region of Texas, the focus for more significant and long-lived thunderstorm development will remain draped from the vicinity of the surface low, southward, into much of Western Oklahoma, along and ahead of a sharp dryline.

SW Kansas/W Oklahoma: Conditions across the Kanas/Oklahoma region will be supportive of a long-lived supercell thunderstorms, capable of very large hail, damaging winds in excess of 65 mph, as well as an elevated tornado threat. While changes in the forecast will be possible over the next 24 hours, overall confidence remains good in the development of significant severe thunderstorms on Saturday.

Coastal Carolinas:A subtropical low will continue to promote a broad wind field of elevated winds offshore of the Southeast Coast and an increased risk for onshore showers and thunderstorms.
