Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Friday across the Southern Plains.
A strong upper level trough is expected to move across the Southern Plains on Friday as a surface low deepens across the region. Continued strong moisture and instability across the threat area will likely allow for the widespread development of strong to severe thunderstorms during the afternoon period. These storms will continue through the evening period tracking eastward through Mississippi and into the Southeast on Saturday. Storms will be capable of large hail, damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and tornadoes. Tornadoes should remain expected across the Southern Plains. However, areas most favorable for tornadic development will be likely across parts of Southeastern Kansas and Northeastern Oklahoma as well as in Central and portions of South Texas.
