Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Wednesday across the Southern Plains.
Confidence continues to increase for the development of strong to severe thunderstorms on Wednesday from Oklahoma through Central Texas and eastward to Southern Mississippi. By mid to late afternoon, the development of an axis of low to moderate instability stretching from Oklahoma into Texas will act as a trigger to initiate the development of showers and thunderstorms across the region. Severe thunderstorms will be possible, especially across Northwest Texas where return moisture is forecast to wrap northwestward into the Texas Panhandle. Storms will be capable of large hail, damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes during the late afternoon into the early evening period.
