Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop Saturday afternoon across portions of the Southern Plains.
An upper level low is forecast to move across the region on Saturday with a deepening surface Low across the Texas Panhandle. Across south and central Texas and southwest Louisiana, moderate instability will be in place by the afternoon hours with dewpoints in the lower 60s. With this moderate instability, ahead of the surface Low severe thunderstorms may develop across south and central Texas with primary threats of damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes.
Across Kansas and Oklahoma, an unstable airmass is likely to be in place, especially across western Oklahoma and western Kansas. With the movement of the upper level low and afternoon heating, strong to severe thunderstorms may develop with primary threats of damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes.
