Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible Friday for portions of Southern Texas and Louisiana. Severe thunderstorms are possible for Western Kansas.

Southern Texas & Louisiana: A weak front along with an unstable air mass and ample moisture will allow for the potential for thunderstorm development across south Texas during the afternoon, with any developing thunderstorms moving eastward across southern Texas into Louisiana. Primary threats associated with developed thunderstorms include damaging winds and large hail with a low threat for tornadoes. Heavy rain is possible with amounts greater than 2 inches possible in some areas.

Western Kansas: Strong instability across western Kansas and far northwestern Oklahoma will present the chance for developing supercells ahead of the dryline during the afternoon hours. Large hail and damaging winds are possible with any developed storm with a chance for an isolated tornado within more developed supercells.
