Heavy rainfall will continue today across the Southeast and Midwest. Across the Southeast, there will be a slight risk for thunderstorms.

An area of low pressure moving northeast will bring heavy rain to portions of the mid and lower Mississippi and Ohio Valley, westward into northeast Texas and eastern Oklahoma. 1-3 inches of rain are anticipated for much of the region with locally higher amounts possible. Flooding will also be possible in some areas.

The area of low pressure moving through the Southeast will interact with an upper level disturbance moving out of the western Gulf of Mexico, bringing a slight chance of severe thunderstorms to the Gulf Coast region this morning, spreading northwestward through Mississippi. Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes will be the main threats, with some hail also possible.
