Moderate to heavy snow is possible Saturday for New England. Severe thunderstorms are possible for the Mid Atlantic and Southeast. Heavy rainfall is likely for the Pacific Northwest.

New England: Low pressure will continue tracking northeastward and merge with a second low tracking through the Great Lakes and into the New England region on Saturday before moving offshore near Cape Cod late in the day. Moderate to potentially heavy snowfall is forecast to develop on the northern side of the low across northern New England. Snow could start as early as the morning hours but is expected to be heaviest during the afternoon/evening and into the overnight hours. Snowfall accumulations of 4-8 inches will be possible for much of the region. Portions of Maine could receive in excess of 8 inches, especially over higher terrain.

Mid-Atlantic/Southeast: A cold front moving into the eastern United States will bring a slight threat of severe thunderstorms to the Carolinas and far eastern Georgia on Saturday, mainly during the afternoon and evening hours as instability increases ahead of the front. Damaging winds gusts will be the main threat with the strongest activity, though an isolated, brief tornado or two cannot be ruled out.

Pacific Northwest: A cold front associated with a low pressure area moving into western Canada will bring periods of rain and showers to western portions of Washington and Oregon on Saturday. General rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches will be possible.
