Moderate to heavy snowfall will be possible on Saturday across Maine and New Brunswick. Moderate snow is expected from the Lower Missouri Valley to Central Indiana.

Maine into New Brunswick: The Low may slow its forward progress a bit later tonight into Saturday, allowing snowfall to linger across central and eastern Maine a bit longer than previously expected. Between sunrise and early afternoon on Saturday, a further 3 to 7 inches are possible across central Maine, with 6 to 11 inches possible from northeastern Maine into New Brunswick.

Lower Missouri River Valley: An area of low pressure that moved from central Canada into the Upper Mississippi Valley Friday will push across the Northern Great Lakes on Saturday. It will push a cold front south across the Plains, and begin to draw moisture away from the Southwest U.S. disturbance. A light rain/snow mix may develop over parts of Kansas and Nebraska Friday night, then move east and intensify through the day and into the night Saturday as the upper disturbance moves out of the Southwest and a new Low forms along the front. Much of the precipitation that falls during the day will be wet snow or a rain/snow mix as surface temperatures are expected to remain a bit above freezing. However, moderate snowfall is certainly likely overnight as low-level temperatures drop below freezing. From sunrise Saturday through Saturday night, snowfall of 3 to 7 inches is expected from the Omaha and KC metro areas east to central and northern portions of Illinois and Indiana, with locally higher totals possible, mainly in the IA/MO border area.

Elsewhere, precipitation will begin to diminish over the Four Corners region, with showers spreading east into Texas ahead of the advancing cold front. A few thunderstorms are possible, as well, mainly across the Rio Grande Valley into central Texas. Severe storms are not anticipated at this time.
