Light to moderate snow with localized heavy lake effect snow will be likely across the Great Lakes and Northeast on Thursday. Across the Northern Rockies and Northern High Plains, moderate to heavy snow will be possible.
Great Lakes and Northeast: Another frontal boundary will advance into the Great Lakes and Northeast on Thursday with additional snow anticipated through the region. Moderate to heavy snow will occur with accumulations of 2-6 inches expected. Lake effect snow is expected again, with localized heavy accumulations over 1 foot. Winds of 10-20 mph will create low wind chills, reduce visibilities at times and impact travel conditions.
Northern Rockies & Northern High Plains: High pressure will build through Northern Canada and filter southward into the Northern Rockies and Northern High Plains. Combined with a shortwave trough, downslope development is anticipated. Moderate to heavy snow is expected. While accumulations should remain under 6 inches, areas of highest elevation could receive localized heaver accumulations. Strong winds will lower visibilities and impede travel.
