Light to moderate snow will be likely Tuesday across the Upper Great Lakes. Severe thunderstorms with heavy rain are possible across the Florida Panhandle and Southern Georgia; up to 4 inches of rain will be possible.

Upper Great Lakes: Deepening low pressure system and cold front will begin to move across much of the Eastern half of the country on Tuesday. Toward the Great Lakes low to moderate snow is possible mainly across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Upper Michigan. Accumulations are expected to average 4 to 8 inches in most locations.

Southern US: As the low pressure system to the north moves eastward, a shortwave trough is expected to develop at the southern end of the cold front and tap into deep moisture from the Gulf. The combination of these features will allow for widespread showers and thunderstorms. Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible and will allow for heavy rain, frequent lightning, gusty winds up to 50 mph, hail, and the chance of a few isolated tornados.

Southern US: Heavy rain will be possible across parts of the Southern US on Tuesday as the cold front shifts eastward across the region. Heavy rain is likely for much of the day with rainfall up to 4 inches possible mainly across the Florida Panhandle and far Southern Georgia.
