by WeatherOps, on Dec 11, 2014 4:00:57 PM

Heavy rain, high winds, and isolated thunderstorms will continue for Northern and Central California on Friday. Blizzard conditions are expected for the Sierra Nevada above 5000 feet.

Central and Southern California: Heavy rain, winds, and a few thunderstorms will spread southeast through the area in association with the strong Pacific low pressure system. Widespread rainfall of 1 to 2 inches with isolated locations seeing as high as 4 inches in the typically favored locations can be expected. Flooding and strong winds will remain the primary hazards.

Sierra Nevada: The severe winter weather conditions outlined in the Thursday discussion will continue for the Sierra Nevada, generally above 5000 feet as the low pressure system moves southeastward through the region. Most of this activity should be ending by midday Friday but Mountain passes may be closed for an extended period even once this system exits the region.
