Wintry precipitation will continue on Wednesday from the Appalachians through the Upper Northeast. Heavy rain and flooding will continue for the coast of Maine and the Pacific Northwest.

Appalachians through Upper Northeast: Another round of 4-10 inches of mixed winter precipitation will be possible on Wednesday as the low slowly tracks along the New England coast. Heaviest precipitation will occur through the early morning hours and through the afternoon, with a gradual weakening and clearing from south to north. Gusty winds and periods of low visibility will still be possible, and with melting precipitation refreezing as temperatures drop back below freezing level again, power and transportation problems are still anticipated.

Maine Coastline: Some localized flooding will be possible on Wednesday as 1-2 inches of precipitation with isolated higher amounts falls in the region.

Pacific Coastline: A low pressure trough moving onshore on Wednesday will advect large moisture into the region and allow for significant heavy rainfall to begin and continue through the late week. For Wednesday, the areas of most precipitation look to be between Northern California and Southern Oregon, where 4-5 inches could fall in 24 hours; otherwise, the entire coast from San Francisco up through Washington can expect 2-3 inches with isolated heavier amounts within.
