Hazardous Weather Outlook for Friday, November 21, 2014

by WeatherOps, on Nov 20, 2014 4:14:20 PM

Moderate to heavy lake effect snow will continue Friday for portions of the Great Lakes. Severe thunderstorms are possible for portions of Texas during the evening hours.

Great Lakes: Lake effect snow will slowly come to end across the lake shore areas of Pennsylvania and New York on Friday. Heaviest activity will remain during the overnight hours and into Friday. Accumulations averaging 4 to 8 inches will be possible, with localized heavier accumulations of up to 10 inches in strongest snow bands.

Texas: A short wave trough will develop and move out of the Rockies into the Southern Plains late Friday allowing for the chance of isolated strong to severe thunderstorms across parts of Texas. Potential for severe storms to develop will exist with large hail and gusty winds up to 50 mph, and perhaps a few isolated tornadoes.
Elsewhere, another low pressure system will begin to move into the Pacific Northwest late in the day. This system will linger through most of the upcoming weekend with showers and light to moderate snow possible across the intermountain west.
