Heavy rain is possible today for portions of Maine and the Pacific Northwest.

A strong area of low pressure will move into western Canada while the associated cold front will move into the Northwest. Periods of rain, occasionally heavy, are expected across Western Washington. 1-3 inches of rain will be possible, especially over elevated terrain.

Rain will continue across Maine ahead of a cold front. 1-2 inches of rain and some flooding will be possible. Rain should clear out this afternoon and evening.
