Heavy rain is possible Friday for portions of Maine and the Pacific Northwest.

Pacific Northwest: A strong low pressure area will move northeast into westward Canada on Friday while an associated cold front extending southward will move into the Pacific Northwest. Periods of rain, occasionally heavy, can be expected for portions of western Washington. Rainfall amounts 1-3 inches will be possible, especially over elevated terrain.

Maine: Periods of rain and showers will continue for Maine on Friday as a cold front pushes northeastward across northern New England. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches will be possible. Locations that experienced heavy rainfall on Thursday will be under an increased threat of flooding. Rain should gradually clear out of the area during the afternoon and evening hours.
