Strong to isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible Friday afternoon and evening across portions of the Great Basin and Desert Southwest. Heavy rain will continue across South Texas.

Great Basin & Desert Southwest: Upper-level trough that was over the Pacific Northwest on Thursday will begin to advance toward the area by Friday, and will help generate afternoon and especially evening thunderstorms over the region as deep sub-tropical moisture is drawn NW-ward. Main threats will be hail up to 1.0 inch in diameter and wind gusts up to 60 mph.

South Texas: Weak, non-tropical low pressure system will continue to affect the region on Friday, though the heavy rain threat should gradually taper off through the day. An additional 1.0 to 2.0 inches of rainfall accumulation is expected, which could lead to some areas of flash flooding.

Florida: A stalled frontal boundary will generate mostly afternoon and evening thunderstorms over the peninsula on Friday, with the greatest threat being heavy rainfall. 1.0 to 2.0 inches of rainfall accumulation is expected.

Elsewhere, showers and a few non-severe thunderstorms will be possible across the North-Central states as a weak upper-level low pressure system remains over the region. Another round of showers will be possible across the Pacific Northwest, though heavy rainfall does not appear likely.
