Helping Business Weather the Storm

Hazardous Weather Outlook for Wednesday, September 24, 2014

by WeatherOps, on Sep 23, 2014 3:53:33 PM

Heavy rain is possible Wednesday along the coastal areas of the Carolinas and the Mid Atlantic. Across the Southern High Plains, there is a slight right for strong afternoon or evening thunderstorms. Moderate to heavy rain will continue across the Pacific Northwest.

- As surface low pressure and the upper-level disturbance lift northeast across the Plains, showers and thunderstorms will shift east toward the Missouri River. Rainfall over one inch will be possible across parts of eastern KS, while strong storms may affect the OK/TX Panhandle region and eastern NM.
- The heavy rain risk will continue off the Southeast Coast and spread north toward the Mid-Atlantic coast Wednesday as low pressure moves NE toward Cape Hatteras. The heaviest rain is expected along the immediate NC coastline and just offshore, with rain totals over 2 inches likely in this area, with 1.0-2.5 inches expected elsewhere.
- Moderate to heavy rain will continue across the Pacific Northwest, mainly west of the Cascades, though some rain may spread east of the mountains. Along and west of the Cascades, rainfall totals of 1.5-3.0 inches will be common.
