Severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday for portions of the Central Appalachians and the Central Atlantic. Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible for portions of the Colorado Rockies.
Clusters of thunderstorms moving eastward with the advancing front and trough will allow for a region of potentially severe weather from eastern Kentucky and Tennessee up through New York City. Damaging wind gusts within these clusters are expected to be the primary threat. Meanwhile, high pressure building in the Northern Rockies will allow for upslope flow over the Colorado Rockies, with a few strong thunderstorms containing damaging wind gusts and large hail possible.
