Severe thunderstorms are possible Tuesday across the Central Plains and Upper Midwest. Showers and thunderstorms are possible for the Southeast and the Four Corners region. Scattered showers are possible for the Four Corners region.
More substantial severe weather chances return to the forecast on Tuesday as a trough of low pressure is expected to deepen over the Rockies and a cold front moves into the Northern Plains. Moderate instability will develop across much of the Upper Midwest and portions of the Central Plains, which will support severe thunderstorms by early afternoon from eastern Nebraska into Minnesota. Impacts will include all facets of weather, including large hail, damaging winds, and a small risk for a couple of tornadoes. Elsewhere, light showers and thunderstorm swill likely persist across the Four Corners region for another day. Across the Southeast, shower and thunderstorm development is expected to be fairly isolated with most activity diminishing after dark.
