Thunderstorms, some severe, are possible Tuesday for portions of the Ohio River Valley. Scattered thunderstorms will be possible for portions of the High and Northern Plains.
Surface cold front moving through Missouri and into the Ohio Valley on Tuesday will promote thunderstorm activity ahead of the boundary. However, the best forcing for thunderstorm development is expected to remain to the north of the region with an upper level low. Therefore, only meager severe chances for winds and hail are anticipated. Meanwhile, upslope flow over the Central Rockies promoted by low pressure in the region could cause some stronger thunderstorms, provided they are able to overcome some limitations in the region, with strong winds as the main threats.
