A shortwave trough over the Northern Rockies will move into the Plains today. Ahead of the trough, moisture advection and daytime heating will allow for destabilization and the development of thunderstorms. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main concern, but isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. Storms will congeal into a squall line tonight, mainly posing a damaging wind threat.
