Severe thunderstorms are possible Saturday for portions of the Northern Plains and Great Lakes. The strong low in Canada will continue to spin a trough through the central and eastern US on Saturday, with a risk of severe weather from the Central Plains up into the lower Great Lakes. Some strong areas of instability and strengthening mid-level flow should support a robust area of thunderstorms with large hail and damaging wind threats. However, as instability begins to fall as storms move eastward and as the evening closes in, storms should begin to lose severe potential. Storms training into the Great Lakes will cause another batch of potential heavy rainfall and flooding, this time from Minnesota through Michigan with around 2 inches possible, and isolated higher amounts within.
