Severe thunderstorms will be possible today for portions of the Central US and Ohio River Valley today. Across Minnesota, a cold front will help provide lift for thunderstorms. To the south of the front, daytime heating will help to destabilize the atmosphere. As thunderstorms develop, large hail and damaging winds will be possible. Storms should dissipate tonight.
Across portions of Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri, thunderstorms will be possible ahead of a weak vorticity maximum. As the atmosphere becomes increasingly unstable, thunderstorms will develop, however, the lack of low level moisture will limit the severe potential. Large hail and damaging winds will be the main concerns with any storms that develop.
Thunderstorms are developing across the Ohio River Valley and into the Carolinas as destabilization continues. As thunderstorms continue to develop, thunderstorms will be capable of large hail and damaging winds.
