Thunderstorms will develop today across portions of the Central Appalachians and the Mid Atlantic, with the potential for some isolated severe thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms will also be possible across portions of the Central Rockies and Central Plains.

There will be two focal points for severe weather today. The first will be along the foothills of the Central Rockies and into the Central Plains. Instability will allow for the development of thunderstorms; a few of these storms will have the potential for large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. By the evening, thunderstorms will become linear with damaging winds being the main threat. Across the Appalachians and Mid Atlantic, a trough will allow for a few storms capable of large hail and damaging winds.
