NORMAN, OK., August 4, 2011 – iMapWeather Forensics, a division of global weather industry leader Weather Decision Technologies Inc., (WDT), is celebrating its tenth year as the industry’s leading hail verification
Prior to the inception of HailTrax, the only source of hail data was the human observation network of National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Storm Prediction Center (SPC). While SPC data was free, there was and is no training or quality assurance related to this data.
“Over a decade ago, WDT conducted a market survey with adjusters and claims managers and found a huge need for an accurate hail reporting system that could determine hail fall at a specific address, regardless of human observation,” said Matt Gaffner Director of Forensics, WDT. “Several of WDT’s senior managers had co-written a radar-based algorithm during their prior employment by NOAA’s National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) and this algorithm became a key factor in HailTrax’ success as ‘the hail tool in the adjuster toolbox,” said Gaffner.
Today, HailTrax remains the leader for hail verification, and HailTrax maps now have an updated fresh look for increased customer satisfaction.
