Norman, OK., March 15th, 2010. Weather mapping leader Weather Decision Technologies (WDT) is bringing a ground-breaking interactive weather application called iMapLive! to local media television stations. Version 1.0 of iMapLive! is a fast, easy to use addition to stations' on-air weather tools, featuring a dynamic touch-screen interaction and offering on-air talent a better way to display breaking weather news on the air and on the Web.
"iMapLive! is a key additional offering to WDT's interactive and mobile iMap family of products for local media stations, and is available with a very low investment compared to existing on-air weather tools," said Steve Gallien, SVP Broadcast Execution, WDT. "The instant touch-screen navigation and content buttons are optimized for real-time presentations, which are ideal for 'wall to wall' extended weather coverage at a very local level during severe weather events. We believe iMapLive! adds a critical third dimension to a local media station's fully integrated, totally synchronized, online, on-air, and mobile application offerings," said Gallien.
With iMapLive!, on-air talent stays in frame and they are able to drive their own presentation in real time. The application also offers customizable controls which presenters can adapt for their own needs.
iMapLive! is built on the same iMapInteractive Google Maps-based flash application already available to viewers as an online experience. Online visitors as well as smartphone users linking to station websites can now enjoy a hands-on experience using the same tools they see on-air. This new tool offers stations the freedom to create a seamless, locally branded experience across three screens: online, on-air and on-the-go. Among other key features of the iMapLive! on-air weather presentation tool:
iMapLive! is available today to beta customers, and is scheduled for general availability in Spring 2010. For more information, contact Mike Gauthier at 405-618-2239 or Vince Perez at 414-520-3313.
